GeekU.P. celebrates art and geek culture (local and abroad) through comics, cosplay, video games, and more.

​This is an annual interactive geek festival bridging fandom with discovery all while raising money for charity! The mini-con offers an artists' alley, vendors, cosplay, workshops, panels, and gaming tournaments as well as break-out events. Including, incredible items in our silent auction. ​Meals on Wheels in Michigan's Copper Country 

Copper Shores Meals on Wheels is a home-delivered and congregate meal service. The meals are designed to provide 33 percent of the daily nutritional requirement. For people 60 and over, that are able to drive, congregate meal sites are situated throughout the area, providing an opportunity for social interaction.

For homebound seniors, meals are available for delivery. This vital service not only provides a hot meal, but also a visit from a dedicated delivery person. Meals and milk can be opened, and if a senior is not home, or unable to open the door, we call an emergency contact to be sure of the senior’s wellbeing. Often, this is the only social contact our homebound seniors have, and it is very important for them to have a connection with the world outside.

Currently, Copper Shores Meals on Wheels has a waiting list of more than 50 people with an average wait time of three-to-five months.

GeekU.P. was founded by Shana Porteen (Black Ice Comics & Books) and Actress /Voice Actress Patricia Summersett. Shana is the owner of
Black Ice Comics & Books, located in Houghton, Michigan. Patricia, originally from L’Anse, MI, is an accomplished actor/voice actor doing voice
and motion capture for several video games including Zelda: Breath of the Wild (worldwide 2017 Game of the Year),
Rainbow Six: Siege, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, and the Assassin's Creed Franchise. Wanting to give back to the community
they love, they decided to create GeekU.P.!
